Greetings! I am so glad you are interested in my crafts and blog.
Having raised our family in rural Maine, we appreciate the home-grown and home-made. Currently, we have an acre garden and 2 horses. My sister also has a horse, and 10 alpacas. It is through her that I have found a new way to express myself - by felting with her alpaca fleece.
She raises her alpacas totally cruelty free, they have a large barn and an acre of pasture. Alpacas are curious and peaceful animals, but even better, their fleece is hypoallergenic! NO lanolin in their fleece.
I self-taught myself how to felt, with a lot of help with You-Tube. Currently, my favorite felting projects are ladies hats, purses and wall hangings. Little did I know I would have to teach myself how to embroider too, for the wall hangings. Numo scarves, mittens and felted shoe inserts have also been made.
Now, I feel that I have some felted products to share with you. Bear with me if I slip in some information about our garden or my horse rides!
Please feel free to ask for something you don't see, I love to make new items. I am excited to make some hat blocks for better sizing. However, I do love the flexibility of a felted hat... sometimes my hair is up, so I need a larger circumference.
Welcome to Neighbor Kate's! My latest idea is to explore a non-profit that will help support the Alpaca industry possibly even in the Andes.
